What is the National Tutoring Programme?

The Department for Education’s National Tutoring Programme (NTP) supported schools by providing funding to spend on academic support delivered by trained and experienced tutors and mentors, from 2020 until 2024.Ìý

¶®ÒõµÛ provided evidence-based, flexible and accessible training to School-Led Tutors and Academic Mentors through the National Tutoring Programme Training Course (from the academic year 2021-22 through to 2023-24).

Impact of the programme

Tutoring sessions had a positive impact on pupil attainment in English and Maths at both primary and secondary level. The proportion of primary pupils working at or above expected standard increased:
